Reports on this site describe what consumers say happened. They are allegations, and we describe them that way.
We write "reported", "alleged" and "describes" rather than asserting that conduct occurred. We do not state that a company broke the law. Where a court has ruled, we cite the ruling and its date.
We do not independently verify every consumer account. A report being published does not mean we have confirmed it. Where a claim is supported by a document the consumer provided, the file records that; where it is not, the file records that too.
Settlement and case information carries the source and the date it was checked. Records we could not confirm are marked as unconfirmed rather than published as fact.
