The rules that apply here

22 NYCRR 1200.7.2(a) bars compensating any person or organization to recommend or obtain employment by a client, except under (b)(3) for a referral service operated, sponsored or approved by a bar association or authorized by law or court rule. NYC Bar Formal Op. 2017-1 confirmed for-profit platforms fall outside this exception. Judiciary Law 495 separately bars corporations from practicing law or soliciting claims for representation.
